Introducing the highly anticipated one ounce silver proof R2-D2 & C-3PO collectible coin from The Royal Mint's Star Wars series. Limited to 3,000 authorized in this presentation, it marks the first time the iconic film franchise is being commemorated on UK coinage. Released in 1977, the first Star Wars film, retrospectively called 'Episode IV - A New Hope,' was the brainchild of celebrated filmmaker George Lucas. R2-D2 & C-3PO, the beloved sci-fi duo, made their debut in this film and appeared in nearly all subsequent movies spanning over 42 years. British association with the series is strong, with UK scenes and British actors playing prominent roles. The reverse features the duo alongside a special lenticular feature depicting the Rebel Alliance Starbird and Tatooine, officially approved by Lucasfilm Ltd. It is paired with a portrait of King Charles III by Martin Jennings. This 1oz edition consists of 31.21 grams of 99.9% fine silver, struck with meticulous proof finish.
